Lastly is the president. The offices of president and vice president were formed at the same time as the senate and were created to give a more democratic leader to the nation. The president represents the nation on the world stage and work with a national cabinet of members chosen form the three houses of congress and help run the nation. The president is elected through an electoral collage every five years. Each region has a certain number of members of the college depending on the population of that region. The president is the 'lower' head of state and represents the county and crown in the world.

All types of elections take place every five years and everyone over the age of 17 is allowed to vote unless they have been in prison in the previous five years. Congress sits in Congress Hall in Talford, St Sildron's.

The Cardinal house has much the same job as the imperial house. It was founded by members of the church 2 centuries after the fall of the great empire. The clergy held sway in the house for almost 300 years before common people began to take over. It is made up of 450 separate constituencies where 1 person is elected in a first past the post system. It is led by a speaker who is chosen in the same way as the imperial house. During elections, political parties will chose a member to stand for Prime minister. The party with the most seats in the house is the ruing party and their candidate is PM, a position of equal importance as the three first ministers (ministers of law, democracy and foreign affairs) and is the head of government. The second largest party form a shadow cabinet in the house and opposes the government.

The senate is the newest and smallest of the three houses of congress. It was formed about 50 years ago to watch the government and make sure it keeps in line. For example it must apron all members of the cabinet. It does not vote on most laws but does have a say on big changes to the way the country is run. It has 50 members elected through a first past the post system and parties are almost non existent. Members choose a speaker and a Leader of the Senate. Senators no not have much power but can be quite influential in politics.

Provinces

Sildronia is made up of 8 major provinces, called regions with 7 counties in each region. The provinces are:

St Sildron's (capital city and smallest Provence)

Apostria

Vale of Lamrock

Mount Hanloy

Falonshire

North Welwick

Welwick

Platonbury

-Each region has a regional assembly which deals with local matters such as transport and policing.
-Each county has a smaller assembly which deals with matters such as education, welfare and rubbish collection
-Within the counties there are also numerous electoral constituencies, some of which have councils as well to deal with
smaller, much more local matters.

Political system

Sildronia has a Bicameral political system which consists of an non-elected and appointed House of Lords and and a directly elected congress.
Congree has a further three chambers in it - The Imperial House, the Cardinal House and the Senate.

The Imperial House is the oldest branch of congree and arose in the time of the empire. It has has 456 members - 1 for each region, 1 fore each county and 1 for each district (there are 7 per county). The only main function of the district is for the election of members to the imperial house. The job of the imperial house is to take part in the process of passing and repealing laws for the nation. It is headed by a speaker who is elected from the members, by the members. The three most important members are the ministers of law, democracy and international affairs, who are elected by the population after the regional MPs have been chosen. They are the oldest offices in the house and are considered highly important.
