SDV: Anne-Marie David has been elected as President of the Romain Socialist Republic. She is a moderate AÉN faction member, and is trying to unite both sides of her party within Romain. She has said she is willing to wor with Sanders on all matters, except dairy prohibition, citing camembert as her favourite spreadable cheese.

SDV: In Rujonau, the most populous of the Socialist Republics, the AÉN came out on top -- just. They only have 4 more seats than the TANKIES, meaning that any number of things can happen within this socialist republic. Élisabeth Avril has been elected as President of this Socialist Republic. She is on the anarcho-communist wing of her faction, meaning that she is under attack from her more moderate colleagues in the Rujonau Socialist Assembly.

SDV: Imelda Wuaulsh has been elected President of the Nuwnociluosoaulaunk Socialist Republic. The Assembly is dominated by TANKIES and it won't be hard for Wuaulsh to pass any legislation that she wants to. This is the traditional homeland of Socialism and Communism in Icholasen, and is the region that Chairman Jirluchuz was governor of before the Revolution. It is a sacred place for hardliners as it has been socialist controlled for decades.

SDV: Laulw Forin has been elected as the President of the Kicrlaunk Socialist Republic, with her faction holding 55 out of 100 possible seats. Forin is best known for her unsuccessful attempt to become a European Councillor for the UNSR, being kicked from the Council by Speaker Firoux. She is a hardline TANKIE who will push forward her agenda of keeping Kicrlaunk industrialised, and has pledged to expand the exploitation of Rare Earth metals.

And so this is the last election, and the end of the 2020 UNSR elections. Tune in next year where the second half of the Ausnat will be elected and for other elections along the way. This has been Stephanie DeVey, peace out!

Enough with this idolisation of politicians

I wake up today to see the news that Jean Claude Juncker in another vanity moment has had the Airport named after him something so rare as Airports are normally named after great dead leaders not living ones who just departed from their jobs who can't even be judged from a historic standpoint yet. This is bad and dangerous for Europe and I'll explain why here. In politics our leaders are here to lead humbly and down to earthly and effectively. Juncker has constantly defied this convention , he is not a God or a legend he is a man one man. He done his job at the end of the day , why should he get medals things named after him for this, he has not changed the world. He is part of a trend of idolising politicians and creating a cult of personality. People are more looking at one person than institutions and issues, it becomes more about the name than the issue in voting and in campaigning. That is not right , the first thing should be the people.

If you go into politics to be known you are in the wrong job and it feels like Juncker is this type of politician a demagogue. If he had joined politics in the United Duchies he'd have been seen through and kicked out at the next election as we don't do demagoguery and cult of personality and flashy politics like that and rightly so as it only leads to the trivialisation of politics and the issues of the people. It leads to a focus on the person. Perhaps we should have less of cult of personality and idolisation of politicians but instead a focus on the position and issues of the actual Europeans , the heroes who make Europe work everyday the average working class and middle class European.

The Citizens' Voice: Ultranationalist newspapers Our Istkalen, Eesti Päevaleht, Die Presse shut down for collaboration with fascism

The ultranationalist newspapers Our Istkalen, Eesti Päevaleht, and Die Presse have been forcibly closed as a result of their collaboration with fascism. The three publications attempted to foment a rebellion as to overthrow the present government and replace it with the fascist government of Josephine Areai - a fraud and a perpetrator of genocide who now sits in a detention facility in Reitzmag. The woman they claim to have been Areai has been found; she is but a woman they kidnapped for their own uses.

Known for perpetrating virulently anti-Western and anti-syndicalist material - not illegal per se but in this case prohibited as a result of their extremity - the newspapers have long been condemned. Ten years ago, they inspired such anger that the paramilitary of the Labor Organization , then active, stormed their offices before performing violent acts upon those involved in the publication of the newspapers, as the public cheered on.

Now, however, the state can no longer tolerate them. The papers went too far in calling for the recreation of the old fascistic state; of calling it "free." They were, in their rhetoric, trying to call for a revolt which would rob people of civil freedoms and replace them with a single duty - that of constant adulation of their so-called "High Mediator." There is no freedom in that; no freedom in such oppression.

They dehumanized; their rhetoric followed that of the old fascists, who we must never allow to return. Calling for the killings of those they disagree it, calling for the creation of a new movement all for one person, a new movement in opposition to all that is outside of it. A totalitarian movement, in essence, one that wished to remove all that was different and replace it all with an unending and uniform praise, terrible praise, for a single, conceited and reactionary, individual.

How would such a life be? No meaning to life but praise, praise of one individual; no direction but that individual. The person, the mind, would be lost. There would be nothing but that one person; no life, no thought, nothing. The thought is terrifying.

In 1946, the state passed a law to prevent such a thing, the horrors of the forty-six years of oppression, from repeating themselves, prohibiting what is described as being "collaboration with fascism" - that is, active support for fascism, defined quite strictly, too strictly according to some. This law is now applied, ensuring that these three newspapers may no longer spread their hateful words.

Istkalen by no means is perfect. But it is at the very least free; its citizens and peoples able to do as they wish - to speak, to create, to express themselves in their entirety with total freedom.

But it is clear, now, that this freedom is too easily lost. It must be defended; the reality of the Forty-Six Years, of the dictatorship of Areai, returns otherwise,.

With 9 votes for and 1 vote against, this motion has PASSED.

'No Talk With the Trigger-Happy': Palace Announces No Backing Down on Duchies & Reitzmag Sanctions

Telum, 15th January 2023 -- The Imperial Palace announced this morning "now is the wrong time" to renege on financial sanctions announced against the United Duchies and the Kingdom of Reitzmag in response to those nations' declarations of war against Svarna Surya. In a press statement this afternoon, His Imperial Majesty Emperor Artabanos further said He was "unfazed" by Duchian threats to seize His personal financial assets in the United Duchies, as well as the Artabanos Foundation's 8% share in Duchian conglomerate Roscoes.

"Not only are My personal affairs much, much smaller in stature and importance than international war", the Emperor announced, "But the value of goods already seized from Duchian citizens and companies since the announcement of sanctions last month has approached the total €143bn the Duchians are threatening to seize." The Imperial Government and the Confederal Government of North Diessen announced last month their unilateral seizure of any and all financial or economic assets held by citizens of the United Duchies, Svarna Suyra, Gadalland and Aspern, or the Kingdom of Reitzmag, under the powers prescribed by the Inimician Constitution and the Diessenar system of Presidential Decrees.

Sources tell Nuntius Inimici that offcials from the United Duchies have been especially intent on alleviating these sanctions. Before sanctions were introduced, Duchian companies were highly active in Inimicus and North Diessen, activity which now benefits only the Imperial and Confederal governments. Critics of this sanction policy, including Imperial Councillor Jeff Speller, have accused the Imperial Government of "playing with people's livelihoods over a mundane cause", and have called on the Government to negotiate with Duchian representatives.

Emperor Artabanos appeared this morning to give no heed to this advice. Asked whether the economic burdens of sanctions weigh up against their political message, He stated the sanctions will remain in place until "the Inimician Peoples can be reassured the nations around us are no longer led by reactionary, jingoistic zealots", and that "the safety of our Peoples, and the People of North Diessen, could never cost too much."

The Imperial Government further announced additional funding to be sent to companies and individuals in North Diessen who may be particularly affected by the current sanctions. "President Karaman has agreed to hand any seized vessels and goods to Imperial Authorities", the Emperor announced, "And Inimicus will, with its large coffers, support the People of North Diessen financially and politically, like We have always done."

No end date for the current sanctions package has yet been announced.

Juncker stood up and said: "This summit is now over. Thank you very much for coming."

The European Leaders Summit was over.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I think the summit is no longer valid. Even if we tried to reach an agreement, the childish and stubborn attitudes from certain side on this negotiation table. I have tried my best, but it seems that some people need to think on their behaviour first, before reaching an agreement. Thank you very much all for coming and for your efforts."

After that, Jean-Claude Juncker shook hands with everyone. The meeting was over.

The Kingdom of Reitzmag expresses its deep gratitude to all nations extending a helping hand in support of those who may be affected by this war, especially the civilian population of Svarna Surya, through Humanitarian Support. It is in our deep interest to protect the lives of those innocent people and open our arms to any aid that may be provided in supporting our humanitarian efforts during this war. Our nation recognizes that, because of current financial limitations and other factors, we are only able to support no more than 200 additional families that seek refuge in our nation.

We would like to confirm, that our nation is expecting the arrival of medical support personnel from our partners Gadalland and Aspern to help treat the needy as they arrive in Reitzmag if this war unfortunately further escalates. Juncker was confused. It seemed than no one understood they couldn't build anything along with the ESA if that insititution didn't make a report before starting to build that spaceport: "His Majesty, I'm afraid that the European Space Agnecy can't fund anything if there no previous report that is given to the Premier Commissioner and the European Council, which would both have to give their approval. This is very important to allow the ESA to fund it. If not, it's technically impossible. I will tell the elected director, but he needs to accomplish the law. Else, he could get petitioned by someone for not accomplishing the law". He said.

Juncker appraoched to where the action was, while looking at the news. He hadn't had much to do, but at least, he was having some fun.

Declaration of war on the state of Svarna Surya

We, the Order of the Braetha, recognising the hostile and aggressive nature of the state of Svarna Surya, and highlighting the need for humanitarian relief, join the Kingdom of Reitzmag in a declaration of war against the state of Svarna Surya.

This document, here signed by all present company of the Order, evidences the provisions of the war in which our good country engages. Here are those provisions.

The Six Unions of Gadalland and Aspern, in this time of war:

will NOT engage in any direct wartime hostilities, alongside our allies, against the state of Svarna Surya

will NOT impose any mandatory military service of the residents of any domestic premises

will NOT manufacture or deliver weaponry to our allies for the purpose of wartime conflict

enacts the Wartime Refugee Scheme, and allows exceptions to any sanctions upon Svarna Surya for this reason

mobilises the Sertian Civilian Maritime Force and the Caribbean Maritime Authority for the purpose of humanitarian aid, and the rescue of civilians displaced by the war.

All EU nations are humbly requested to accept civilians who possess both a Sertian passport and a Humanitarian Licence, issued after 25 December, to their shores for a time no greater than 45 days for the purpose of wartime humanitarian relief.

On the deployment in the Strait of Gibraltar and the Strait of Adventuranza

Following the recent declarations of the Kingdom of Reitzmag in the withdrawal of their deployments in the Strait of Gibraltar and the Strait of Adventuranza, Her Majesty's Government express gratitude to the Kingdom of Reitzmag for the descalation of conflict and the upholding of peace. Therefore, we have ordered the withdrawal of HMS Queen Victoria and all ships of the Royal Navy tasked under the detour and inform of their returning to their respective ports of deployment.

We trust the Government of Spain in their intentions of keeping safe the Strait of Gibraltar and the Strait of Adventuranza and extend our regards to our allies and friends such as the Empire of Inimicus.

I would like to finish this debate with a simple proposition moderation. We don't have to choose anti-reform or pro-reform. You have heard tonight our stances and I ask you today to vote for courage. Its easy to say I will repeal EACA its much harder to say I will reform it and make it work. Its easy to oppose the NDA but true courage is proposing a replacement if you disagree with it.

We also have Cocx who's tough stances could increase conflict with all due respect. We won't solve the UNSR conflict militarily , our sanctions are working slowly. I believe we need reform and we need to respect the nationstate listening to their concerns especially of those wanting to leave and then find a way to do more cooperation but with sovreignty and local implementation strategies.A glocal approach is vital in this, I do not think it is brave to merely pull back , finding a way to make more EU work with sovreignty is, supporting increasing funds for development is and supporting more joint projects is. We will not solve our challenges by pulling back on co-operation if we want to solve climate change, security and our infrastructure problems we need more joint standards , more cooperation while respecting sovreignty. If you want this vote Leeson vote for reform not rolling back of Europe."

The European Commission has reached a decision on the following two applications:

The subsidy request for the Cycle Super Highway System has been denied by a 3-0 vote, as the proposed project is seen as expensive and unlikely to create proportional benefit.

In regards to the subsidy request for the Solar Retrofit Program: the European Commission, in light of the cost and relative luxury of the proposed project, proposes, by 3-0 vote, a counter-offer of a single low-interest loan of 10 billion euros, at 1.8% interest and to be repaid in 15 years.

My dear Europeans, tonight you’ve been able to listen to our proposals, to compare, to see what candidates aiming for the Premier Commissioner’s seat want for you and the Union. And you have seen how somebody who has done nothing promises a lot, and someone new promises what she knows she will be able to do, to make it come true. Action versus inaction, guarantees against uncertainty.

I’ll be there for every single person that requires my help, my assistance, the help of the European Union and its many organisations. Europe was made out of and it’s still about dreams. Many of the things I’ve done through my life were unreachable dreams for me, like having a King as a special friend, travelling around the EU or having my own business! My dream is leading this Union, making it better and leaving the job with the most perfect Europe I can achieve, I want to be your Premier Commissioner. I would like to thank Councillors Yahontov, Ikoszer, Tusk, and Kohout for taking a stand for our nation's respective sovereign rights. This Sanctions Request would have meant that countries would have been prevented on managing their own relations with the UNSR. I was proven wrong when I convinced myself that Ruthund stood alone in its fight against those who would take away freedom in Europe to further their political agenda. Whatever our opinions of the UNSR and whatever reasons you may had for voting against these Sanctions, this Council has done the right thing today and I look forward to work with my colleagues in the future to ensure a non-coercive and free. Guthrún Wond has been captured, confirms inland Brætha

8 July 2023

Guthrún Wond has been captured by Sertian authorities while attempting to escape the country via Sharlias harbour. He was reported to be travelling with a small company of allies, who have also been taken into custody.

After evading capture in the siege laid on Osperfey, Wond headed west through the towns of Manden, Alspevarias, Sharlias, and Antem Combever. He was seen by some villagers during a detour in the town of Purrage, where negotiations during the Aspernian schism took place. Shortly after arriving back in Sharlias, he was apprehended trying to board a ship under the name of Gideon Mastricht, possessing a fraudulent foreign passport.

The Inland Brætha are expected to refer Wond's case to the Brætha for Justice, who will likely introduce charges of treason for Wond and his accomplices. Meanwhile the nation lets out a sigh of relief at the capture of a government official who descended into crime and treachery.
